- Active Directory
- Microsoft Active Directory (AD) directory services allow easy management of user and workstation accounts. CISS provides the domain level administration of this service and maintains the campus domain controllers. CISS also works with local support units in supporting organizational unit level issues. - Blackboard
- Blackboard is an on-line, interactive learning utility that allows faculty members to publish courses online. For more information about using Blackboard for your course please contact the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology (CTLT) at 309-438-2542 or visit the Blackboard/WebCT website for instructors.
- CISS Time Clock
- The CISS Time Clock is a free web-based time clock system for all departments of Illinois State University. It allows managers to track when and where their employees have started and ended their work shifts. The CISS Time Clock is extremely useful when managing multiple students who work varying times and days during a given pay period.
- Datastore01
- All affiliates of the University are provided with two network shares on a server named Datastore01. The Home share is used to store personal files, such as research papers, music files, picture files, etc. The Website share is used to publish a personal web page at www.ilstu.edu/~YourULID.
- Email
- CISS maintains 30,000+ email accounts on the central email servers and supports Webmail, Thunderbird, iCampus email channel, Apple Mail, Outlook and Outlook Express.
- Exchange
- Microsoft Exchange is a centralized calendar system that allows faculty and staff create meetings and appointments with other members of the University.
- iCampus Portal
- The iCampus Web portal is a network of personal information and applications for Illinois State University students, faculty and staff.
- Institutional Web Space and Hosting
- Space is available on the University web server for hosting of institutional/departmental web sites.
- LDAP
- LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) is the campus standard directory in which ULID accounts are created and managed. Data custodians for personnel or student data update and/or add information to mainframe systems in the course of daily business. Pertinent segments of that data are then imported into the LDAP directory on a daily basis and utilized to create and manage accounts, provide authentication, populate Active Directory, and more.
- Listserv
- A listserv is a great way for people with a common interest to share information and hold discussions via email.
- Magic Enterprise
- Magic Enterprise is the Web-based problem-tracking system used by Illinois State University. By creating Incidents, or trouble tickets, technical support staff can maintain a single point of reference for diagnosing and troubleshooting a given issue.
- McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator
- McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) is a centralized anti-virus software management program which ensures that computers that connect to it are up to date on anti-virus patches with no need for intervention from individual users. CISS runs both the central campus ePO server and a separate one for ResNet. All departments are welcome to take advantage of this service, please contact us at helpdesk@ilstu.edu.

- Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) is a centralized Windows patch management program that ensures that computers that connect to it are up-to-date on Windows patches with no need for intervention from individual users. All departments are welcome to take advantage of this service, please contact us at helpdesk@ilstu.edu.
- Server Backup
- Backup critical user data on servers through CISS's Legato Networker tape backup system. Networker provides fast, reliable backups that administrators can control locally. This service is available for Windows, Mac, Linux, IBM AIX, and Sun Solaris servers. For more information, or to set up this service, please contact us at help@ilstu.edu.
- Pay Printing
- Pay Printing is the campus standard pay-for-print software available for use in computer labs. All uLabs and many departmental labs currently utilize this software. Contact Carla Birckelbaw at (309) 438-7525 or crbirck@ilstu.edu to establish this service for your lab. Mobile printing through uPrint available at a number of Pay Printing locations.
- Webboard
- An interactive learning tool that enhances electronic communication through the use of discussion boards for class assignments, collaboration, and more.
- WebCT
- WebCT is an on-line, interactive learning utility that allows faculty members to publish courses online. WebCT is being phased out for Blackboard.
- Welcome2ISU
- A personalized web portal for prospective students.
- WINS
- WINS servers are responsible for handling the Windows Internet Naming Service on campus. Similar to DNS, the WINS servers maintain a database of computer names and associated IP addresses. They perform address translation which allows computers to find one another on the campus network for purposes of file sharing, drive mapping, and other activities.
